Anniversary
2008
Happy third anniversary. I am pleased to report on this anniversary that many of my goals for 2008 have been met: the scope of A Bend in the Road was drastically expanded, from fleshing out the Essays section to brand-new categories like News & Views and Read & Listen. No longer just a place for poetry, Bend in the Road now encompasses more of its author’s creativity—which has always been my goal.
Speaking of expanding, this year also bore witness to the expansion of my friends’ families—from Chris and his wife welcoming twins in late February to Jeff and Kelleys’ new daughter, born some ten days ago. Oh, and yours truly was made an uncle, again, in early February.
In the new year, I hope to incorporate much of the content of my old youth ministry blog (see it in its existent form here) into a new page or two here.
On a final note, each anniversary day, the 19th of December, coincides with my sister’s birthday. A nice way to remember the day and always a happy occasion.
Thank you for your continued patronage. May 2009 bring you much joy, peace, and happiness.

2007
Another year passed, and so we are two. This year, I think, could well be described as the year of my poetry. It is practically all I wrote. Granted, only ten such examples survived my ruthless editing process, but what is left represents the very best of my output. That quality is very important to me—I believe it is far more important for my writing to be good rather than prodigious.
This year also marked the launch of new blogs by many of my college friends, AR, Jeff, and Katie among them. Bravo.
In the coming year, I hope to expand the scope of my blog to include not just poetry, but some prose samples and even personal reflections (as I did in the beginning).
At any rate, thanks again for your patronage and support. Keep reading!

2006: The First Year
So, what began as a place of literary contemplation has turned a year old (as of the 30th, technically). I certainly did not foresee this blog becoming the proving grounds for my poems, but I am grateful for your acceptance and enthusiasm nonetheless. A Bend in the Road exists for you, the reader, and it has been awfully rewarding to share a bit of my soul with you.
Happy holidays and a groovy new year,
